Soul Shop for Black Churches

Soul Shop™ for Black Churches is a one-day workshop designed for clergy, staff, lay pastors, and faith-based clinicians in the Black Church. This training was developed and is delivered by black and African-American faith leaders who are suicide experts, and it addresses the complex issues specific to black communities that are causing suicide rates to rise. Given the prominence of the church within the black community, Soul Shop believes that churches should be at the front line of this public health crisis, and it equips these leaders to do just that.

Audience: Black Faith Community Leaders (both paid and volunteer)

Time Commitment: 1 Day

This one-day workshop is designed to equip Black faith community leaders with the tools to minister to those affected by suicide. Participants will learn how to create worship resources, train congregation members in suicide awareness and basic conversation skills, and invite those who have experienced suicidal thoughts to share their stories. The workshop also explores how to cultivate a soul-safe culture within your congregation, fostering an environment of support and understanding.
